Don Sutton fans Alan Bannister in the eighth inning of the Brewers June 24 contest vs. Cleveland recording his 3,000th career strikeout. He becomes the eighth pitcher in Major League history to reach this feat. Yount gets 1,500th career hit on August 25 with a double in the fifth inning off Tommy John of the California Angels.
