A Bit of Cincinnati Reds History: 1977: Sept. 28: George Foster hits his club-record 52nd home run during an 8-0 win over the Padres at Riverfront Stadium. Foster would go on to dominate the NL MVP voting after hitting .320 with a league-high 149 RBIs and 124 runs scored. 1978: July 31: Pete Rose extends his hitting streak to 44 consecutive games, a mark topped only by Joe DiMaggio’s record of 56.
